Day 1: Delhi to
Srinagar (by air)
Reception upon arrival and transfer to Deluxe Houseboat.
Afternoon shikara ride on the Dal lake, visiting
floating/vegetable gardens. Dinner and overnight stay in
Deluxe Houseboat.
Day 2: Srinagar
After
breakfast sightseeing of the Mughal Gardens, visiting Nishat
Bagh built by Asaf Khan, the brother- in-law of Jehangir in
1632 A.D. Shalimar Bagh was built by jehangir for his wife
empress Nur Jahan. All the gardens are situated on the banks
of the Dal Lake with the Zabarwan hills in the background.
On the way to the gardens, visit a carpet weaving factory.
Lunch at Houseboat. Afternoon free. Dinner and overnight
stay in Deluxe Houseboat.
Day 3: Srinagar to Kargil Via Drass
Morning departure by car/coach to Kargil, enroute stops
include Sonamarg and Baltal hamlets, famous for rugged snow
peaked meadows. Past Baltal cross over Zoji-La Pass (11,500
ft). We are in Drass valley with strikingly different
landscape dotted with remote mud huts giving an impression,
that you really have traveled back in time. After a passport
check we continue on to Kargil. Overnight in a local hotel
Day 4: Kargil to Leh
M orning
visit to local Immambarah and Turkish inspired architectural
structures from the Silk route days, when this used too be a
major stop for Central Asian trade route. Enroute to Leh
stops include Mulbekh Monastery, perched on a mountain over
the village of the same name, known for the huge image of
Buddha carved from a giant rock. After Mulbekh, continue on
to Alchi and Likir Monasteries. These monasteries house
Buddha and renowned 1000-year-old religious wall paintings.
This evening arrive in Leh and check into local hotel/inn.
Day 5: Leh
Full day sightseeing tour of the monasteries - Hemis, Shey
and Thikse. The Hemis Gompa is the most powerful of the
monasteries in the vicinity of Leh and belongs to the
Kaguyupa Buddhist sect. Large areas of the surrounding
farmland are controlled by the monastery. Shey and Thikse
occupy hill top sides and offer remarkable views across the
Indus Valley. Overnight Leh.
Day 6: Local sight seeing
Morning sightseeing
of the Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa and Shankar Gompa. Afternoon
drive to Stok across the river Indus to see the Stok Palace.
Evening free to explore the bazaars. Overnight Leh
Day 7: Leh - Spituk - Alchi - Lekir- Uletokpa
After breakfast at the hotel we'll set out for Spituk and
arrive after a drive of 8kms. From there we move further
upto Alchi, 64 kms from Leh. Here you'll see the awesome
11th century Alchi Gompa- the only Gompa in Ladakh region on
flat ground. Thereafter, we cover Lekir to visit the
splendid three storey Dharma Wheel Gompa. Here you'll be
awestruck with the sight of the massive Buddha statues. You
will come across frescoes depicting the life of Buddha. Then
we'll proceed to the Uletokpa camping ground for overnight
camping.
Day 8: Lamayuru
After
Breakfast Full day sightseeing in Lamayuru. This is a
scruffy little place. Here we'll visit the small Wanlah
Gompa located in the south of this place. The night is spent
in an overnight camp in Lamayuru.
Day 9: Back to Leh
After breakfast we start our backward trip to Leh. Driving
in these high altitude regions is quite adventurous, with
the winding and serpentine roads flanked by mountains on one
side and deep gorges on the other. Upon arrival, you check
in at your hotel and spend the night there.
Day 11: Leh - Delhi
After an early breakfast we leave for the airport, where you
can board the flight to Delhi. Our representative will meet
you at Delhi airport and help you check into your hotel.
Check into your hotel and relax. Stay overnight at the
hotel.
Day 12: Delhi - Departure
After breakfast, leave for a day's sightseeing tour of
Delhi. In historic Old Delhi you will see the Jama Masjid,
one of the largest mosques of India; the Red Fort, an
impressive sandstone monument built by the Mughals, and you
can explore the busy market of Chandi Chowk. You can also
visit Raj Ghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. In New Delhi
you can see India Gate, Parliament House and the President's
mansion. Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar and the Bahai Temple
and shopping in crafts emporia in Delhi complete your Delhi
tour. and Evening Transfer to Airport. |
